Uhhhhhhhh, no! Do not put tranny fluid in your fuel. If you want to clean the injectors, run 32oz of PS with about 1/4 tank of gas, find a nice big, long hill and git on it. That'll clear it right up.

PS = Power Service Diesel Kleen. Use the grey bottle; the white is for winter andhas the anti-gel additive in it. The grey is meant as a Cetane booster and injector cleaner.

If you can find it, Stanadyne is great stuff, so is Howes. You can find that at Flying J, Pilot TA's, etc.

Rich, I would not do it to mine either, but my best friend uses it in his dumptruck to prime it at filter changes, Hes been doin it for years. Id never do it to a CTD but it hasnt hurt him. It would be just as easy to prime it with fuel. Our system primes itself at filter changes, Right?

I'm not sure ifI totally understand your question, but I fill the filter with diesel fuel before screwing it back on.

Mayfair,

I think he talking about the newer trucks that will self prime after the filter is changed. The newer trucks use a Cartridge type filter and not a Spin on type filter like you have, so their is no need to fill it after a filter change.

Right, all you do is put the new filter in, key the ignition for a few seconds, turn off, key again, then start. It'll sputter just a bit as it forces the air out of the lines, but it'll light right off.

Well, my filter still sits in a housing, it's not exactly a "spin on" like an oil filter or something. I WISH it was that easy. When I get my FASS, it looks like those filters are true spin on like oil filters.
