Default helppp...blow-by???

so i got home from work...parked my truck for about an hour...then moved it to the other side of the driveway and i notice there was some sort of fluid on the drive way...a puddle about the 3-4 inches across and it looked like it splattered...as if u poured water or something so i was thinking couldnt be oil. but i smelt it and it smelt like oil and it was dark in color. then i crawled under the truck and right around that little cover on the bell housing (the one you can take off and see the ring gear and such i guess??) and it was all wet...so i sprayed it all down with brake cleaner and took it for a ride and let it sit again and no theres nothing. not wet or anything. my only guess is the fluids i saw were blow-by of some sort that just came out??? but now the question is could it be blow-by? could it be a leak? what could the fluid be? help if much needed. ive never had a vehicle that didnt leak something or make some sort of clunk or rattle, so im trying to keep my baby free of leaks and of all kinds.

Farther toward the front of the truck there is a crankcase vent tube that hangs down. If you over filled your oil it will vent out that tube. I have also read a few guys on here having trouble with this vent letting oil out enough to coat the bottom of the truck. I never did see what the fix was, but I have to beleive they got it fixed. Check your oil level after the truck has been off for at least 15 minutes, see if you are over full. If you are, and you know you didn't over fill it then I would have the injectors checked ASAP. One might have malfunctioned and be filling your crankcase with fuel. Good luck, and let us know what you find.

if it is blow by the drips would be comeing out of a tube that is around 5/8" diameter. you can follow it from the top of the engine down the drivers side.

if it is comeing from the inspection cover then you may have a different issue all together.

the pinion seal on my front axle was leaking and it "sprayed" gear oil all over my under carriage, and it coated the back/underside of the bell housing. it was a simple fix by the dealer under warrenty.

humm... im confused now

as i said before i sprayed it down with brake cleaner and its all clean. i drove the truck around the block last night (after i cleaned it) and i let it sit for a while and there was nothing. now after driving it to and from work this am, its a little wet around the inspection cover. the oil level is perfect. and the oil is ALOT cleaner (it was changed about 1500 miles ago)than the whatever is leaking.

what could i be looking at for a problem now? rear main seal possibly? <-- i really hope not. the truck is an 03 with 73000mi. it shouldnt have gone yet

Rear main seal if it is engine oil, trans input seal if its tran oil, could also be a bad torque converter.
