Default '05 Recall

Got a question for you all. My dealer tells me I have to bring my truck in for recall work. Says they need to replace the coil spings. My truck is a '05 Quad cab 2-wheel drive dually diesel with 6-spd. Truck drives fine, and the service manager don't know why its being done, just that in needs to be done. I received nothing from Dodge telling me about a recall. I have searched the net and found nothing about it either. The only recall I can find has to deal with automatic trans trucks. I don't want to do this for no reason. Does anyone know of this recall, and why it needs to be done?

Thanks

Do not let them re-flash your computer,
they did my truck without consent and it is annoying.

Thanks guys. That's all I could come up with too was the auto trans, which don't pertain to me, and the steering link, which looks like a aftermarket part. It made me a little suspicious when the service manager wanted to do the work but couldn't answer any of my questions about what and why it was needed. As for reflashing the computer, I got way to many bells and noises now, I sure as heck don't need anymore! I think I will go to a couple more dealershps in the area and see if they give me the same line and see if they can show me something written down on paper. Will post any info I get. Until then, I think I will take the long way around the dealership!

Thanks, again

Default RE: '05 Recall

Well, I went to another dealer today and inquired about a front spring recall for my '05 dually. They couldn't find anything thru there normal channels. They did find this particular recall, but had to use my VIN # to locate it. Seems there were 8500 or so trucks that possibly had the wrong coil springs installed. These wrong springs are weaker and could bottom out and cause loss of control. They said it was being done in 3 seperate groups and I am in the second group, which is the reason I didn't receive anything from Chrysler yet. The service manager said that there was no inspection ordered for the recalled parts, just replacement. Since this guy spent the time to dig and find the info for me, and let me read the recall notice on his computer, I decided that his dealership will get to do the replacing. Even though I am in the second recall group, the parts are available, so I should have the work done in a week or so. The only thing I didn't really agree with him was that he told me that a recall is based on safety acts and usually mandated by the government and you should have all recall work done no question asked. First off, its my truck not there's and noone is tearing it apart unless there is a good reason. Plus, whenever the government is involved, I ask alot of questions!
I will also mention that the computer has nothing to do with coil springs, so keep away!!
