The last time my truck was acting that way....it was the transmission going bad. I drove it like that for a year. I had the trans rebiuld with big valve body and the 2000 fttq converter installed....WOW!!!!! It rocks.

I have 5spd manual, I don't think its the transmission. I've gone through this ordeal once before already, and, the symptoms are all the same except for the whole tank fill up part, I don't know what the story is with that. Plus, I have P0216 DTC, the breath of death.

Cheers

I have 165k on my original VP44 and am on my 3rd lift pump. I have blown one outside the tank, and one inside the tank. The next one is going to be a FASS.

Yes, perhaps I should be mad at the lift pump. This is looking to be more like the problem. How do I know if I haven't ruined the injection pump? Replace the lift pump and see if all is well?

If you aren't getting any fault codes, the engine is not hard to start, and your mileage is normal, then your VP44 is more than likely OK.Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If you can see the fuel pressure when the engine acts up, then you'll be able to tell if the lift pump is bad. The ones that the dealer puts in the tank aren't any better than the ones that are under the hood. The first one I had in the tank lasted a week, and started blowing fuses for no reason. The second one has been ok for about 20k miles now. It sounds to me like you might have a faulty lift pump because when the tank is full, you have problems, and the lift pump is in the tank.

They are blanks with slow burning black powder. The powder will go out about 20ft before it is all burned up. Less than 3ft, can burn you, more than about 3ft and it is like someone threw hot sand at you. No, I haven't shot my horse.
