Why buy an SRT-10 over a diesel?
NickyB, I see Triton on the other forums.. He did 705 on fuel only with a single turbo which is awesome.. I see him on some of the diesel forums.. I dynoed mine for the first time last week after I added more fuel pressure and a lockup box. It made 751hp and 1,512 torque at the wheels wastegated ata conservative50 pounds of boost. I'll spray it in December to shoot for900-1000. Driving back to FL from KY it managed right at 23mpg.
Midnight Runner,we're getting several people togetherthis Saturdayat Orlando Speedworld's dragstrip for test and tune. There should be atleast one low 10 second truck there. I mayjust run street tires and shoot for a low 11 secondrun hopefullyin the 122 to 125mph range.A 2wd truck with 20' street tires makes for an interesting ride down the strip. It starts at 6PM and ends at 10 30..

What about handling and braking? I would think you would have to spend alot of money in suspention and brakes to get that heavy diesel to corner and brake like a SRT-10. Right? So I guess Iwould get an SRT-10 over a diesel if I wanted a fun truck that could not only accelerate fast but also have good handling, braking and if it was a QCstill tow a boat, jetski's,small toybox ect... Then getthe diesel if I was planning on towing more than 10k pounds.
Diesel all the way
I predict in the next 20 years over 50% of consumer vehicles will be diesel. I can't wait for chevys 4.5 diesel motor in a light half ton package. I might buy one but I really want a 2008 LMM crew cab short bed GMC that would be a nice truck. For what SRT-10s are going for compared to diesels if you want a street truck get the SRT-10 they are $15,000 (35,000)cheaper loaded than a loaded crewcab diesel (50,000). But the diesel will be much faster much better on gas last MUCH longer and be able to do alot more. Ya it might not be able to autocross or race on the track but drag strip and towing see ya later gas job. I know you can get big brakes my dad had 17inch rotors on his diesel but he had to run like 20's (he had 22's) and well with 36's it needed them to stop his was lifted there was no way it could corner like a srt-10 but it cornered almost like it did stock (obviously alittle top heavy with a 6inch lift and 36's). That truck was pretty fast too he had propane water meth bigger turbo efi live programming new rods pistons head true straight piped exhaust. He actually got disqualified one night racing because he black smoked the other lane (saleen mustang with supercharger and drag slicks couldn't keep up).

M15, I'm sure handling wise there's no comparison.. Midnight Runner, it was a decent turnout in Orlando. The track was just very slick.. I couldn't hook up at all, and found myself drifting even at mid track.. My numbers were 2.07 60', 7.66 at 100 mph eighth, and 11.53 at 126.39 in the quarter.. The fastest truck ran a 10.4 at 129.. It's an actual race truck though..It hadhuge slicks, four link, full cage, and was in the 4500-5000 pound range. When I raced him, he killed me on the first half of the track, and then only pulled me by .06 on the second eighth mile.. If you ever hear of an SRT10 or diesel meet here in FL, please let me know.. I enjoy watching trucks about as much as racing..

Okay I am asking myself the same Question. I would really love to have the SRT-10 but i would be my wife's daily drive even tho she works only 10 min down the street i have not to have it a a daily so i guess now i am leaning towards the diesel??? What problems would i run into if i were to use it as a daily drive if any at all. I do have a fourhweeler that i pull on a little trailer is this a no-no or is it possible to tow this little amount with the truck?????And what can i expect from it as a daily???
The SRT-10 is a toy. If you need it for work and things like that, the diesel.
And i'm not saying that you can't mod a diesel you can. But you dont want to
work in a SRT-10.
