I know the manual says to change the oil every 3k, but using synthetic oil shouldn't the interval be at higher rate. My Jaguar ran simialar oil and it didn't need to be changed but every 10k. The dealer charges 100 bucks each pop and they don't even clean the air filter. Just curious.

 

I go 5K on my daily driver on syn. My toys do not get enough miles on them, they go 1 year.

 

does the motor consume or does it actually "foul" it?

 

None of my vehicles use any oil. Always full to upper safe range throughout the change period.

As for why a year, just hear it is bad to have old oil and they sit over the winter, gives me something to do. The Viper gets about 300 miles to the change....

5K on syn is fine if you do not keep it in there for years....

 

I have hadan oil analysis done on my motor @ 15,0000 miles and will be doing another at the 20,000 mile oil change interval to check the condition of the oil and the motor at that time. The first analysis stated that the engine wear was consistent for these engines with more frequest oil changes. Full synthetic should last at least that long. We'll see.
