The 300C and the SRT-10 are nice vehicles but you guys better watch out ford is coming out with a 500hp lightning soon and us ford guys are coming for you. So enjoy your reign on top for now.

What does the SRT 10 run in the 1/4 mile??? Like I said you are on top for now and do you honestly think ford is going to lay down they will be coming out with a truck. Maybe not this year but next. It is a good looking truck I'm not taking anything away from it.
Average stock times are mid 13's. We don't expect Ford to lay down nor do we want them to lay down. Competition is good for the consumer. But all you Ford guys keep saying wait until the next lightning somes out - over and over! Last I heard from Ford was possibly 08 for the next L. So while you're waiting, we are going to be enjoying our trucks for a couple of years. We don't expect to stay on top forever. It will bounce back and forth over time. Maybe even GM will surprise us and come out with a great truck. Also, by the time the next L is released Dodge might also have a new "Toy" developed. Rumors of a V10 hemi have been heard.
There will always be something better if you wait - but how long does one want to wait?

BTW, Car and Driver ran a 12.9 in their test of the SRT-10 but as Stingray said, most of the "real world" times are in the mid 13s, give or take a few tenths.
Mid 13's I thought they would be fatser not to take anything away from them. I run mid to low 13's in my GT but out on the road going about 50 that truck beats me by about a car length going throughg the gears it must not get out of the whole to well. I would like to see GM come out with something its been a while. The L we will just have to mod out the old ones to keep with you for now.
I may be wrong but I don't know of any stock SRT-10s running sub 2 second 60 ft. times. There just aren't any good drag tires for 22 inch rims. The rear calipers are too big to simply slap on a set of smaller rims and slicks. And, don't forget, we're pushing over 1,500 extra pounds than a Mustang.
We tend to get a little one dimensional and only think of cars and trucks in terms of drag racing. If the SRT-10 was only meant for drag racing, it wouldn't need those huge brakes. A set of stickies would easily get it deep into the 12s. Cars that are built strictly for drag racing suck as an autocrosser or a rally car. Bring your Mustang to an autocross event and you'll get trounced by a Mini Cooper or a Miata. Land speed cars hit the highest speeds of all but they are so high geared that they have to be pushed out of the hole with another vehicle. A 10 second drag car is all in at about 125 - 130 mph. My wife's stock WRX Wagon will go over 140 mph. The suspension needs of a road racer don't work for weight transfer in a drag car. My Belvedere has tires, drag shocks and springs that work great for launching but if I try to take a corner too fast, I drag my door handles. Cars must "specialize" for maximum performance in a particular type of racing.
Then, there are cars, and trucks, built to do a lot of things well. To do this, they must make compromises. These are much more complete vehicles and I think they are more fun all around. The SRT-10 is in this group. It can put your eyeballs in the back of your head, carve a curvey mountain road, cruise the boulevard with the 500 watt stereo blasting, drive cross country in comfort, set a high speed record (Guiness and SCCA certified) and even haul a load of lumber - all with a major dose of attitude. Taking all of this into account, the fact that an SRT-10 is the fastest stock truck on a drag strip, road course or dry lake bed is all the more impressive.

Ford will never surrender, dont forget guys that i can get a lightning for 20 k with almost no miles, drop a grand into it, beat u guys in every kind of race, and still tow like a truck, oh ya what does dodge recomend for towing on the srt-10 again? And could someone post the 04 srt-10 quarter mile times vs the 04 lightning, i think youd be surprised. Have a nice day.
