Excuse me while I yawn. If you want to try and push our buttons why don't you at least try an original argument. That one has been beaten into the ground and has no credibility. Oh my, I yawned again.

Ford will never surrender,
I don't konw about that, according to MM&FF in the March 2005 issue SVT has now officially dropped the Lightning.

dont forget guys that i can get a lightning for 20 k with almost no miles, drop a grand into it, beat u guys in every kind of race,
Then go get one instead of talking about it.

ive seen many-a-mouthy lightning owners go down to my lowly 83 dodge...

at my home track there are several regulars running lightnings, the best of them running high 11s, but with Serious work done.

97 is paper racing...dropping a grand into a lightning, which runs 13.6s stock may beat a stock SRT10...but not by much...a good set of drag tires will run you around 500...and exhaust could easily run you another 500. i have seen the newer lightnings runs 12s just by changing the pulley/tires/exhaust...but a grand isnt enough to give any consistant competition...

I view many forums and they all have youthful exuberance displayed like the Ford guy above. Ford builds great trucks but are in a poor situation for performance trucks. The F250 Harley-Davidson experiment was a bust. They are now moving HD back to the F150 for 2006 but will offer nothing special for an engine. They are bringing out a 6.2? "Hemi-fighter" soon and maybe that will get into the new HD. Meanwhile, no Lightnings and no competition for the SRT-10. Offering the new 6.1 hemi in a shortbed needs to be Dodge's next step. Hopefully the new Ram will not look like the Dakota and scare buyers away.

I like this guy he is going to lite a fire under one of your a$$es though. He does have some strong points. I see where you are talking about taking things into consideration. True you have 1500 more pounds but you also have 240 more hp. That should more than compinsate. I also hear you about the tire thing if you could get some drag radials for them they would lanch better but that goes with any vehicle. RichardPetty97 keep it up you are doing great.

Lightning owners never cease to amaze me, they own a 4670 lbs piece of $%#! that doesn't even have a real truck frame, and has more in common with a Super Charged Dakota than a Ram half ton. The RAM SRT-10 Is Much bigger, has much more room inside and has a larger bed, and weighs 5200lbs.. That is a night and day difference in class. Not to mention the rotational mass because of the Heavy 22" Rims is much harder to spin and is a considerable drive trains loss. The past Generation F150 lightning is little more than a Mustang with a bed, and for many reasons is not comparable to the Viper truck in not only weight but size. I can take a pinto slap a bed on it and a 500ci blue oval crate motor, and claim to be the fastest this and the fastest that. Ford make a Fake truck go fast, Dodge made a Real Truck go FASTER.... You can supercharge any POS and make it go fast, its still gonna be a POS. A Dodge magnum can tow 4000lbs towing has nothing to do with a durable truck platform. And it can tow 5K It is just not recommended from DC. Good Stock 1/4 mile times for the SRT-10 Ram are in the 12.7 to 12.8 Range..... Stock SRT_10 blows the lightning away, and modified the SRT-10 eats the Lightning as-well. They are not in the same class sorry.

If you wanna talk price advantage I can buy an 00 to 03 Dak RT or Dakota 4.7 putt 5K into either one it and get into the 12s all motor...... And be about 10K less than a lightning.

The real disadvantage for Ford is quality, DC is near Toyotas quality control, ford is near Yugo. Any POS can be made to go fast, If you compare a Cobra to a Viper because they are within 1 or .7 of a second you obviously are missing the point.

Tit for Tat.
