Okay, what's the secret to putting the first 500 break in miles on this thing without putting your foot through the floor on this beast. I have stepped into it a couple times in second gear, but only up to 4000 RPM. Seemed to me that it really wanted to take off at that point. Am I correct on this? Do they come alive at 4000??

This truck even makes going to see my mother-in-law fun. Well, at least the drive was fun.

Yea, know exactly how you feel. Went through the same thing when I broke mine in. Just got to find a reason at all to drive ...They really do come alive from 4000-5500. I look forward to driving it every day.... 1720 smiles so far, those first 500 will be over before you know it.

Yeah...not over 4000rpm in ANY gear!
Having the 4.56's installed this AM...shimm kits just arrived!
This means that fun will start a little earlier...say 2500rpm's[sm=trust_me.gif]

There is a lot of fun that can be had below 4,000 rpms but, yeah, the fun really starts when you can wind her out. Be patient. While the engine is breaking in you can be doing facial exercises. This will keep your face from hurting too much from all the non-stop grinning.

You'll have to get used to how fast this many cubic inches will rev to the limiter. Hey, Quick. Does your's rev all the more faster with that SC on there?

I like Silverback. Very clever. Come on over and check out **********.com if you haven't already. They'll all want to welcome you to what they affectionately refer to as the "Red Button Club."

Ya it sucks to have to break them in but u got do what u got a do. The V-10 stock power curve shows 5250 RPM is the peak HP & Torque and they do have a cut out at 6000RPM.
The motors are precision fit and run in at the factory but they still recommend the breakin period with varable RPM not in access of 4000 and no lugging. You talk to some people who drive them hard from the get go and they say they have better performance from a vehicle, rather then babying them but I babied mine until 3000 miles.
The other thing you may want to know are that the computers are set up on a performance curve that changes with mileage and the engine settings change as mileage increases.

Hey Quick_Silver

Could it have anything to do with the "SuperCharger"????

I have had 3 vehicles that had their induction enhanced, two blown and one turbo. It's unbelieveable what that little device can do to an engine and the smiles per mile factor.

Yes and when you add a supercharger or turbo charger, you need a VEC2 to allow for adjustments of flows, octane, etc. But you definitely want some breakin miles on before you start with the add ons, right QuickSilver.

[sm=youreright.gif] We did wait until she had about 3,000mi before we changed her[sm=exactly.gif] but then "Katie-Bar-the-Door"[sm=bling.gif] As for the Vec2...my Paxton[sm=gobble.gif] comes with it's own computer "Split/Second" boost the fuel to 106psi[sm=drooldude.gif] at the same time telling my stock PCM that everything is all right and don't turn on the engine lite![sm=chattypair.gif] The system has gone well over 2500mi now[sm=alcoholic.gif] seems to be getting faster[sm=happy046.gif]
Soon as I get this break-in period over with for my new rear/end 4.56's[sm=gears.gif] then we can play again![sm=gobble.gif]

Hey, Quick! I'm not going to be down for the Rod Run in Temecula after all. But, I'll be at Mopars at the Strip and the Spring Fling for sure. Love to hook up with you then and see your monster in person.
