I know what you're saying and you are right in that regard but I think you're missing my point. It's not the best purchase for the price if it's not what you want to buy. I don't want a Lightning. Therefore you could sell it fot $1 and I would still say I made a better purchase because I got exactly what I wanted. I wanted an SRT-10.

Strat, the trucks running great. I have people hanging out of windows just to hear it whistle. Had several cocky drivers, you know the type, totally wither away as soon as they heard it. It feels like it pulls harder than my Belvedere did. If we could just hook it up... My new KDW2s just arrived today. We'll see if they are better than the Pirellis.

 

Big Asp: I know exactly what ya mean, when you want something specific.....nothing else will do. I totally agree with you. I just have been on the opposite end where you cant afford the things you want!

Great truck by the way.....hopefully you can get us some more pictures of it...I'd love to take a crack at doing some image work with it.

SRT-10's and Ram's in general make for great looking pictures..

 

Big Asp, I enjoy reading your posts, your not over the top on anything and you get your point across without offending anyone. You seem like a pretty cool guy. I agree with what you had to say about the trucks. You go and get what you want. Neither vehicle is inexpensive and are definately toys. The Lightning I bought (placed 2nd in a car show today) was sitting up on the pedestal at the dealer I said "get it down, I want it". You gotta go for what is gonna make you happy and BOTH trucks surely do a great job at giving you WAAAY more than the average joe needs. Most people who read these boards want even more. I know I do, the mod bug is a powerful force. Hard to resist when 200 bucks will get you 6 more pounds of boost with a pulley change. Will be nice to see what or of Ford comes up with something on the new platform to compete with you guys. Hopefully they have enough sense to get more out of it than what the second generation Lightning has in it (not that that is meager by any means). Viper Vs. Vette? Yah, I am with Viper all day on that one. Though the Stingray concept has me at least looking to see if it will make it to showrooms looking even remotely close to the pics. Though the Z06 parts are a lot cheaper than the dodge camp. Rode in one at Spring Mountain during Viper Days with one of the instructors and really enjoyed the ride. Pics of the Dodge trucks? Yah, the body style screams brute strength.

 

I rescently got out of my '01 Lightning (lost it racing) and got an RC SRT-10, so I maybe one of the few qualified to comment on both trucks. Never was into or undestood for that matter "brand loyalty" (or brand racism as I call it), I'm just a performance nut and go where the best products are at the time, way too limitting otherwise. The SVT was a fantastic vehicle. Frankly, I could give overwhelming arguments defending both. I try and not look at SVT bashing threads so I don't alienate myself with my new friends here.

 

I don't care who you are...you gotta love how you can change one pulley and buy a Hypertech...and gain 40 hp. Thats freakin awesome! But DCX does suck as far as performance mods...and why do all our mods cost so much more?

 

^^^ Supply and demand my friend. The market just isn't there. Once more and more people get into the MOPAR aftermarket, it will drive prices down....until then, everything will be more expensive....because it CAN be. Also, they view the Viper V10 as an exotic so this justifies jacking up the prices....lol

I love my Lightning AND I love my Ram...Can't really say much more. Needless to say, the SRT-10 and the Lightning are the ONLY reg. cab trucks I find appealing.

Hello Im a newbie here so... be nice! But, about 5 mouths ago me and my g/f went and test drove a red 04 st10 and just so happen a red lighning that we seen on the lot that we were @ pulled behind us as we left.. My First thought was O" Crap'o But, we headed to the interstate.. Well, Im acting all calm and dude gets beside me and jumps on me.. I like smiled like a little kid @ Christmas at age 5.. Anyways... We kicked them off from a 40 roll and the L stayed there at the door for a hole gear and a half the srt10 truck finally pulls out on the L about 3/4 of a truck when we lifted. To say, I was not impressed with the srt-10 truck.. The L was completely stock! So, Went and bought a 01 Black Svt Lightning with a few mods.. Took it to the track @ a 1/8th Mile and poped off a 7.99@88mph with the stock Goodyear f1's with a 1.82 60ft to boot.. NICE![sm=jawdrop.gif][sm=interesting.gif] So... I think we made a good choice
