Default Trans gone????

So I was driving my truck today.... I have had it for 2 days, and put maybe 300 miles on it. As I am going down the road, I go to shift gears and it wont go in... Tried to go back to the previous gear and noting but grinding... I pulled it into the gas station, and put it in neutral and it was making an awful racket and grinding noise. Looked underneath and saw some fluid all over the rear trans bracket. Started the truck back up and it would go into gear fine but when I would go to take off it was all jerky and owuld make a bunch of noise. I called the dodge dealer, and had them come pick it up. They didnt take it in today, so I am hoping monday they will see what is wrong with it.

Truck is a 2004 with less than 5k miles on it.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Thanks.

This is your first post. Is your truck an SRT? Maybe just a blown slave or clutch master cylinder. Good luck!

yea that was my problem with all the standard-transmission trucks i ever owned, whenever something went wrong with the clutching area, whether it be that the clutch cable needed tightening, or the problems the guy listed above, my stick shift wouldnt shift into the gears right and i would hear grinding from some gears. Took me a while to figure it out tho. Lol maybe you didnt cause any further damage from trying to get it to work right. It's not your fault but i'm scared for you since you mentioned fluid everywhere.

My bet is on the slave cylinder as well. Did you clutch pedal get easier to push/fall to the floor? I have learned a lot about the clutch area with my recent clutch burn up.

1. The stock clutch is very easy to burn up and ruin.
2. The stock clutch slave cylinder is a very poor design. Some told me the failure is due to the cylinder have plastic parts and can not handle the pressure well, not sure about the plastic part being true, but I do not know number of SRT owners whos slave cylinder gave out and these trucks are to new to not be a design flaw.... They are NOT breaking due to age/use.

If you take to the dealer I am not sure if the slave cylinder will be covered under 3/36, clutch is 1/12. My guess is you will be OK, but.... You will get the same crappy cylinder and it will happen again.

Roe racing sells the Viper version of the cylinders, may want to upgrade to those. Dealer may even install them for free if the truck is still under warranty.

My whole clutch experience soured my a little on the design of the truck. I plan to write a letter to DC, but I am sure it will fall on deaf ears and I will get a form letter back. To me the clutch is one thing out of their control as it is up to the driver how long it will last, but that slave cylinder is a JOKE.
