Yup, thats why you purchase the Stage I or II from DC or X-Metal

Works better than the Mopar PCM.

Yeah, I know. I was just providing info for the original question. Mopar is always going to program on the safe side. Aftermarket will try to get every last bit of power it can.

I'm running stock. Haven't purchased a performance PCM yet. mmmmtorque is running a VECII. It is programmable with a laptop. You also have to cut and splice about 35 wires to install it. It works as a piggyback to the stock computer. The DC and X-Metal are about the same. I'm not sure whether they do their own flash or get the flash from someone else. There is another company called B&G Performance. DC & X-metal might get their flashes from them making them all the same. mmmmtorque may know more specifically
who does what and where. Chime in bro.

I cant confirm that X-Metal's flash is unique to them. Although I am pretty sure they do their own programming. All flashes are very similar in performace, its the customer service that you need to consider. Some places charge you for re-flashes, some dont. You also may need some minor tweaks on the stage II if you experience any detonation. Most places will take care of it but believe some may charge you. These are all questions you shold ask before ordering.

In regards to the Vec2, if you ever have any questions, drop me a line. I have been using it for almost 2 years now and couldnt live without it.

OK, I thought all these upgrades (computer flash) were just plug and play, I didnt realize it involved cutting in to the wiring of the truck. Not sure if I want to do that!! I already have my cold air (k and N) coming. Maybe I will just get Magnaflow catbacks and call it good??? Also, thanks for answering all these questions. I clearly dont have much experience with this stuff. I just got the truck a month ago!!

You dont have to cut any wires to install a new PCM. You just remove the 3 plugs and a couple of screws. If you want to run a Vec2, then you need to hard wire that in.

PCM install takes about 5 mins

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I re-read my post and saw where it might have alluded to having to cut wires to install a PCM. mmmmtorque is right. You only have to do that for the VECII. The aftermarket PCM's and the Mopar are just swap outs. Out with the stock in with more power. The nice thing about the VECII (wire cutting to install) is that it is user programmable with a laptop to adapt for future mods etc. Decisions, decisions .

THe Mopar PCM upgrades are only for the RC SRT-10. There are no provisions for the auto trans. So the lockup converter may not work. The Mopar techs are working on a QC version. The others like X-Metal or DCPerformance may also have this problem, so you might call to find out.

No, as a matter of fact the X-Metal and Dc Performance PCM's work great on the QC. They control or eliminate the torque management system with the auto tranny. I've been told that you will feel your biggest gains with a PCM on the QC over the RC. They say that the PCM on the RC is still a good thing to do, just not as noticeable as the QC. No torque management to deal with on the RC.
