’04 Ram SRT-10
I was thinking about it and you're right. The Ram is 1,770lbs heavier than the Viper and less aerodynamic, and the best times they have been said to have is 3.9 (Viper) and 4.9 (Ram), under those conditions 1 second slower is really good. <edited><editID>vHiEpMeIr</editID><editDate>37968.8945023148</editDate></edited>
Yes, weight is the key factor to the 0-60 times. Aerodynamics do not come in to play until you reach triple digits, so it has no effect on 0-60 times.<img border="0" src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">

really? not enough drag @ 60mph to make a difference aye. Thank-you for this info. didn't know that, I would've figured the shape would always matter, show ya what I know. hehehe</P>
Aero does matter if you think about it... i dont care what anyone says. think about it, if ya got a big truck and all.... your hitting alot of resistance from air, where if you have aero, you'll cut through like butter. i went to moroso the other night to top out my truck (2004 ram hemi regular cab) i did it twice and there was a difference when my tailgate was up, and when it was down. also when it was stock, then i lowered it... theres a difference
Yes, as I said it does matter, but not until your going fast enough for it to become a measureable factor. Kinda like a spoiler, at low speeds it serves no functional purpose, but a high speeds it makes all the difference in the world as it keeps the rear of the vehicle glued to the ground.[sm=smiley2.gif]
lol... as for the original question... the next Lightning will recieve a 5.4L SUPERCHARGED V-8 built by Roush Industries... very similar to the motor they build for the Ford GT Supercar... I know a guy who works for Roush Industries who dynos engines... next Lightning 500 horsepower and 500 ft-lbs of torque... still less torque than the Ram SRT-10, but it will be lighter...
Now Dodge has in the works the 8.3L HEMI "VIPER" V-10 w/ 600 horsepower... supposely to show up around 2008! Also Chevrolet will show up w/ a SuperCharged version of the Escalade powered Silverado SS pushing around 430 horsepower, maybe more!
