Default Terrible Ride

I am new to Dodge Forum and would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
I have owned a 2005 Silver regular cab SRT-10for about a year now.
Ihave been plagued by a horrendous ride in this trucksince it was new.
The truck basicly feels like I'm riding on square wheels.
I have had many vehicles over the years andmy first conclusion that the wheels were out of balance.
I have been to the dealer 3 different times.

Visit # 1 -Dealer supposedly"road force" balanced the wheels but didn't really find anything too far off. Truck still shook.
Visit # 2 - Dealer removed and inspected the drive shaft andreported that the drive shaft was ok. Truck still shook.
Visit # 3 - Dealer actually swapped out all 4 wheels and tires with an '05commemorative white / blue SRT-10 that was on his lot. This helpeda little bit with the highway shake (55 - 80 mph)that I had (not a lot). However the truck feels like it is still riding on square wheels now at speeds as low as 35 mph.

I suspect that there is a problem with the Pirelli tires or factorywheels.
Has anything been reported by Dodge or SRT-10 as a recurring problem in this area ?
I have had some firm riding vehicles in the past (Saleen Mustang / corvettes). I can say that this is not a firm ride - the truck is actuallyshaking on perfectly smoothe roads. The shake is not in the steering wheel - the whole truck shakes.

I would like to hold onto this truck but can't put up with this much longer.

I am planning a return visit to the dealernext week and would like to hear from anyone who has any insight into what may be going on.
Thanks.

Trust me, it is the tires. Many have had issues with those Pirrelli's. Sometimes the force balance works, but mosts times it does not.

I am guessing you feel a vibration, although the wheel will not vibrate or shutter?

Usually what I recommend is go to the dealer, explain the issue and also how many times you have had it in without a satisfacotry repair. Then have the service manager go for a drive with you and make sure he documents the feel of the vibration. Then tell them you want to put a new set of tires on it yourself and bring it back then go for a drive again to show them it was the tires. Once it is confirmed tell them you want a refund for the tires or at least a prorated amount. Or, maybe, you will get lucky and they will replace at the dealer, just do not put Pirrelli's back in it!

My tires have 11K on them and I am going to replace them this off season. It is a 04 and I only have had it for 8 months. I could go back to the dealer and bitch up a storm, but in the end they would prorate them and put Pirrelli's back on it!!

I am going with the BFG G-Force tires. They are pricy but a great tire from what others have told me. They also have a nice looking tread pattern. But, if you drive in the rain or snow, do not get these!

Thanks a lot for the info 94rt10ohio.

Yes - the shake / vibrationis in the truck - not in the steering wheel.

I will go to battle again next week with Spirit Dodge but am not looking forward to this.
I would rather go to the dentist for root canal !

Does Dodge or SRT have an 800 number for technical support or customer support ?

I think most srt-10 owners have had this problem. Mine shook so bad at 70, I had to slow down--it was awfull for this price truck, or any truck. The dealer changed the tires and wheels two times with other srt-10's on the lot and finially the last set works fine. It still is not as smooth as I think it could be, but so much better. Like others, I am about ready to replace the tires and am going with Toyo. Good luck

Nothing out of mine...The worst ride i ever had was when i purchased 26" Davin Revolutions for my truck, Surprisingly they handled quite well but for racing was definetely not the choice.

Here is a copy of the reply. Basically you will have to work through the dealership. Since you have already been through this, and even had another set of tires on the truck, I suggest you show them this letter and tell them you want new tires that are not Pirrellis. The fact you been in several times means you have went beyond the customers responsibilty and they now need to step up to the plate. As for me, I do not want to start the fight as I will be at first base and not standing on 3rd like yourself. Not to mention my truck is in storage until the end of March.

Thanks again for your help.
I will stop by this weekend and talk to them before I bring the truck in.
Now I am armed with background information.
Over the past 2 days I searched back over your forum and I see how
widespread this vibration is.
I also have the 800 number you gave me for Dodge.
