RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
ORIGINAL: alloro Usually there are a pair of relays together on the firewall. One is for the starter and the other is the ASD. I’ve already replaced the start/run relay and there’s another one above that with five pins 3 vertical 2 horizontal. Something like this - I- I I Also there’s two relays permanently attached to each other AutoZone calls the Fuel Pump Relay and as far as testingthe ASD relaygoes which pins are suppose to connect? |
RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
Just replaced the ASD/fuel pump relay there’s still no difference.
I’m about to throw a stick of TNT under the hood!https://dodgeforum.com/upfiles/smiley/shootshoot.gif |
RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
ORIGINAL: cowboy kid as far as testingthe ASD relaygoes which pins are suppose to connect? The dark blue wire is the coil positive. This should have 12v power also only when the ignition is in the on or start position. The yellow (or sometimes dark blue/yellow) goes the the PCM for the coil ground. |

Back to the no crank issue...is there any chance that with all of your poking around you could've tugged on and loosened the connector on the neutral safety switch?

RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
It's in the front of the tranny on either the passenger or driver's side depending on the model you have. It's got a 3-wire connector with the pins being in a straight line.

RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
is it a relay or plug?
wire colors could help but may be different. Oh by the way it's some sort of 91/92 hybrid van could be previous owners fault. |
RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
The switch screws right into the body of the tranny and looks kind of like a sensorand the 3-wire connector plugs right into it, hard to miss. Not sure about the wire colors.

RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
found it Black White Blackconnector to switch.Red Blue White before connector.
Any idea which should be hot when? |
RE: 92 B250 van ignition problem
I only have the procedure to test the switch.
1. Disconnect the wiring connector at the switch. 2. With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the center terminal and ground on the transmission case. Continuity should exist only in PARK and NEUTRAL. 3. Shift the transmission into REVERSE. 4. Check for continuity across the two outer terminals. It should exist only when the transmission is in REVERSE. 5. If the switch does not conform to these specifications, check gearshift linkage adjustment to ensure that the switch operating fingers are correctly positioned. |
