My 94 JG Cherokee w/318 and 21 gal tank had the same problem for years. I had to keep it above 1/2 tank. I finally changed the fuel pump and no problems since. I just bought my 96 B1500 w/318 and it's doing the same thing. I'm probably gonna put a fuel pump on the outside of the tank inline this time for future ease of pump replacement should it need it. Here's a write up on how to do it if you want to try it.

You'd be better off just cutting a hole in the floor and making a plate to cover it. Then you can easily access the fuel pump, the wiring, hoses, or fuel level sender whenever you want without having to modify anything.

Default 2000 Ram Van V-6 sputters

I have a 2000 Ram Van 1500 V-6 that starts to sputter and act as if it's running out of gas after about a mile or so. I found that by punching the accelerator to the floor a few time it clears the problem but as soon as I shut the truck of and it sits for a little while it does it again. I've noticed the fuel pump is getting loud. Any other ideas before I swap out the fuel pump?

Default Fuel system problem

Well I spent $241.18 and 4 hours labor to replace the fuel pump and it's still doing it, so I guess I'll try the "TPS" tomorrow.
