Just pickup one of these. It plugs right into the factory trailer wiring connector under the rear bumper. No fuss, no muss, no bad splices or mistakes.

All you need is a test light or a voltmeterand you can figure it out yourself in just a few minutes.
Here's what the 5 wires do (or usually do) in no particular order.
1. switched +12v
2. ground
3. parking lights
4. left turn/brake light
5. right turn/brake light
First determine the +12v and ground wires, then for the other three just turn on the parking lights, left, and right turn signal one at a time to see which wire livens up.

AND, the nice thing is, HarborFreight has voltmeters on sale this month for just under $2.
On my 1999 B1500 that I had sold, it has the plug you're talking about if it's the flat OEM plug.
Here is what the plugs look like. Remember, the mating connector is a mirror image when looking at it.
