Yes it's overcharging and boiling the acid out. Your voltage regulator isn't working.

For 92 and later vehicles, the regulator is built into the computer. The only way to fix it is to replace the entire computer or send it out to be rebuilt. The computer is easy to replace. Three bolts and three wire connectors and it's changed in under 15 minutes.

Make sure you get the "CORRECT" PCM/ECM for the van and NOT the RAM truck !!!

It's under the hood right in the center above the engine.

Dealer is about $700
Rebuilts are about $250
Used are about $150

There is a sticker on it with a long number. When getting a replacement, this number has to match exactly or you will have problems.

YES! YES! YES!

AND avoid any dealers that will sell you a PCM with the wrong numbers!!! There is already one person who has been messed up by this not to long ago.

Here's a few good links on getting a good PCM for your van.

This is a good place to get a used PCM. I got one from them for only $140.

Select "ENGINE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE" for the part type.
