Default 93 B150 Climate Controls

This week my A/C stopped working.

The heater works fine - it iswarm and blowing properly through the foot vents. But when I switch to A/C I don't get any cold air through the front dash vents even though the fan still runs.

The Defroster still works OK. In Defrost mode, I get air through the top defroster vents and the compressor does turn on.

But I get no A/C (Push) or Vent (Pull) through the front dash. Bi-Level A/C (Push/Pull) is also not working. Any idea what's wrong?

I'd say either your selector switch is bad or the vacuum actuator for the dash vents door sprung a leak. No fun getting to that, it's really buried up in and around the heater box.

I was thinking it might be a vacuum problem. I'm getting a pretty good amount of air thru the defroster vents in A/C mode so I guess I'll just leave it unless I feelsuddenly inspired one day to disassemble the dash. Wouldn't bet on that.

Well, I got lucky. The main vacuum line (black tube) running from the engine compartment to the selector switch was compromised. A hose clamp near the A/C boxon the front right side of the engine bay wore a hole in side of the plastic line. I just cut out the bad piece and put a 1/4" vacuumhose in place to repair it. My selector switch now working perfectly again.

That's odd, usually when the main line is effected you will only get defrosters and no floor or dash vents. I guess you were getting just enough vacuum to open the floor vent, but not quite enough to open the dash vents. I'm glad someone got lucky for a change.

With the open line I was getting about 85% defroster and 15% floor, so you are correct. I was definitely due some luck with this van. With 260K miles you have to expect maintenance, but I've been fixing almost as much as driving lately.
