Exhaust problem???
87 b150 slant 6.
I recently swapped a good condition low mileage holley 1945 for the wore out 1945 that was on my slant. (dont know if this has anything to do with it or not)
I changed them over the weekend, fired it up and the van ran better than it ever has. I got home from work today (the van has been sitting since sunday) I started it and was just double checking everything when I noticed the exhaust was glowing cherry red.
I'm assuming this is not normal. What would cause this??????

RE: Exhaust problem???
How long does the engine have to be running before it gets that hot?
What part of the exaust is glowing...near the manafold, muffler, tailpipe, or if you have it the CAT?
When you put the newer carb on, did you make any adjustments to it?
I should add that glowing isnt exactly normal, it could indicate a flow restriction or not exactly sure what else. possibly a rich mix that is still combusting after it leaves the cylinder. Are you getting any backfiring or dieseling when you shut it down?
