Default parking lights

I have a 1997 dodge ram van. We had a new alternater put in and a new battery installed because the parking lights will not shut off when the car is shut off. The mechanic suggested this. We think the parking lights are draining the battery and it is always dead when we try to start it. We checked all the fuses and do not know what to do. The mechanic said it is too hard to track down electrical problems. Please help!

Are you freakin' kidding me!??? A "mechanic" suggested that you change the alternator and battery because the parking lights won't shut off? Do yourself a favor and never, ever, ever step footin that garage again.

Did he not even consider the possibility that the headlight switch is bad and is not allowing the parking lights to turn off? That is the first thing I would check.

I totally agree with Alloro, I do not find this guy to be a true mechanic.
