Dodge Van Air Bag Problems
I have a 1997 B2500 van with an airbag problem. The van is booked in for a recall repair to rectify this. Meanwhile, I would like to continue driving the van, but with the airbag light flashing on and off, I am a bit wary as the airbag may deploy. Does anyone know if I could temporarily disable the airbag by disconnecting the cables from the ACM situated under the drivers seat and what affects this would have, if any.
Thank, Lee.
Thank, Lee.
Since I also own a 97 Ram Van B2500 could you explain more about the recall?
Just unplug the big (13 pin connector) from the ACM. Do not mess with the small (4 pin connector). By unpluging the big connector that will deactivate the whole system.
Be sure to warn whom ever drives this van that the Air Bag will not deploy if needed. Failure to warn them and the van ends up in an accident you could/would be held liable.

Thanks for the information. I have an open recall on my van to replace the ACM because of corrosion. The van is currently in Spain, but I have managed to get it booked in for repair. I found out about the recall by typing the VIN into google.co.uk (not .com). If you have a recall on your van, it will show up in the carfax report. Thanks, Lee.
