Out of gas????
Who the heck runs out of gas in the middle of diagnostic procedures????
Who the heck doesn't consider the possibility of being out of gas when they know their gauge doesn't work right????
Who the heck doesn't think of being out of gas when their fuel pressure is more than 30 PSI below normal????
Who the heck didn't go back to the beginning of this thread and read post #2 that was written 2-1/2 weeks ago????
Good thing I didn't drive out there to diagnose this for you. Now that would've pissed me off!

Check the Grounds !!!!!!!!!!
Hello, just read over this entire horror story. Some of it sounds familiar ( please see my post on my 98 v6 with electrical demons). My van suffered from weather dependent no starts, rough running and dying out, false / no gauge readings, engine no shut down, etc. All these problems went away when I changed out a corroded ground strap from engine block to body, and for the hell of it added a second one. Cheap to do, I used battery negative cables. Wouldnt hurt to try, and for me it cleared up all sorts of electronic weirdness that was going on. It seems my bad ground didn't change the read VOLTAGE when I checked with my meter, but choked off and rerouted the AMPERAGE and really confused relays, sensors, computer and such. It also forces current to chose odd paths back to the battery wreaking havoc along the way. ....... By the way, thanks Alloro and Mobile Auto Repair!
Good Luck!

All is running unbelievable. When I turn the key, I barely have to engage starter and it starts up with a roars and then runs smoothly right from the getgo in a second. Even in low teen temperatures.
I am very proud not to have given up. And I was so close a few times. I just have to again thank you for all the time and advice you and some of the other here and at another forum gave me. The one thing I have to fix with gas tank is a very slight leak with 4 inch rubber hose connecting filler tube to gas tank clamp. I put it on a slight angle while tightening it seems. Now tank is full, so I probably should wait till I use up half tank and replace hose. It may be split too, not sure.
The computor fix was a big one. That problem had carried over from last winter. And so was the plenum repair a few weeks earlier. Also, I read of using CLR to flush heater core, which finally gave me heat, even after mechanics gave up and said to replace it. Finally got to replacing oil sensor unit which after 3 years or more had me wondering about a 4th pump replacement or engine from so much sludge. But for 26 bucks that is no more.
I do have to replace my thermostat again. When I did the plenum repair I was advised to replace it even though it had just been done in the summer. I wished I left it alone. I got a bad one. It seems to open up hotter than it should. Usually gauge is just below halfway on the dash It now sits just above halfway. So I bought a heavy duty one. And I'll make sure to test it in hot water.
And brake hose needs replacing with a complete fluid flush. It pulls to one side. I used to pull to other side last year before I replace other brake hose. Should have done both at same time. Live and learn. All other brake parts seem to be OK. And that should do it for now.

Never give up, never surrender. LOL

Glad you are back on the road and that many of your other gremlins were fixed in the process. Especially glad that being out of fuel did not cause you to give up. That would have been the ultimate failure.
