Default Transmission issue

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I hope someone might be able to help me.
I have a 2000 Ram 3500 CNG Van 5.2l. Just recently while driving on the freeway (75-80) mph, as the van started to climb a hill it shifted from OD to 2nd skipping Drive. Now, if I don't shift out of OD myself when climbing a hill the trans. will shift from OD to 2nd no matter what speed I'm traveling which causes the engine to over rev. Any ideas?

The transmission may need a fluid/filter change with band adjustment done.

4000 miles after I first got my van(3000$) it started going from overdrive lock/up to 3rd at highway speeds and then reengaging with a clunk and bump. The slightest headwind gust or hill would cause it.

The pan was filled with metal.
2600$ to rebuild.
Still hurts 7 years later.

Hope your is not as serious.
