Default Maintance required light

Is there a way to reset the maintance required light without going to the dealer? In the owners manual it says it is only to have the emmissions system check. It also says the dealer can reset the light or it can be done by following the instructions in the owners manual.I cant find the precedure in the owners manual.
Any help is very much appreciated.

What year is your vehicle? If it's newer than 95 then you need a code reader or scan tool to reset the light. (I've read that if you complete 3 "drive cycles" with no other faults reporting to the computer, then the light will clear. I'm not sure what a drive cycle is for dodge, but it should be something like... start-warmup-speed sensor input faster than certain speed-shut down-cool down-cold engine.)

The key here is "no other faults reporting to the computer". OBD II systems are somewhat standardized, no matter the make of the vehicle.

If it's older than 95, I'm not much help here...Ford requires a battery disconnect, but then again, if there's still a problem you should read the codes and fix the problem.

I have an 88 ram van.The light according to the owners manual is a reminder light. It is not a light that comes on when there is a fault. It is a light to have the emmissions system checked after so many miles.

if you contact your local dealership of even a local mom & pop shop they shoul be able to inform you of what the codes means

I tell you what we see the most is people that don't get their gas cap tightened real good or somthing happens to the seal on the gas cap

After more research and checking in the auto parts store I finally figured out how to clear the light.I am inserting a pic with the instructions incase anyone ever needs the instuctions.
REMEMBER the is only for the Maintance required light.
