need help please with trailer
I just bought trailer for my 97 dodge 2500 van. I have problem with my blinkers know, they flash to fast only when my trailer is hooked up. I checked all bulbs all work. When I disconnect trailer all goes to normal. When I use flash lights or position lights all ok. Only blinkers keep trouble me. What could cause this any help please
I know when people replace their brake lights and front turn signals with LED Bulbs the blinkers either flash too slowly or not at all because the LEDs draw so little current. They need special flashers.
With your Trailer connected, the circuit with the flasher unit is drawing more current, causing them to flash quicker.
I personally wouldn't stress it. But if it really bothers you, a different flasher designed for higher current might be obtainable, or spend the bucks on LED bulbs for the trailer lights. Get the red bulbs, not the white. The white will look light pink through the red lenses.

You can also get an electronic flasher that is designed to handle between 2 and 10 bulbs on the circuit. They cost a few dollars more but the speed of the flash will stay more constant between with or with out the trailer hooked up to the van.
