Damn you MAR, damn you!
I figured you were going to doubt the validity of my photo, so I had my "oh now you're calling me a liar" post ready to go. All that work for nothing.

No, I really thought the Sawzall with blade was too big to get in there and use it with out the blade hitting other items while the saw is running. Seriously, for me it would be easier to get my battery operated Dremel with cut off wheel in there and cut the clamp after removing the items you mentioned above. I have used it may times for that purpose.
Please tell me you did not remove your alternator and such to prove it could be done. I did not mean for you to do that.

I find a new hacksaw blade to be easiest on '97 and newer. It is tight in there, but the clamp is only about 1/64" thick so it just takes a few passes with the manual blade to cut through. It's worth the price of a new hose to have that clamp removed in just a few minutes.
I just replaced my tstat, hoses, pump but did the top hose first (trying to find the leak) and just removed the alternator and got to everything just fine. the front bolt for the water pipe is a little hidden but easy to lock onto. when i put that same bolt back I just taped it to my socket so it would stay on and not get lost behind the acsy bracket
