Default a/c on all the time?

On my 2001 B2500 it feels like my a/c is on all the time. Thought that I had been hearing my compressor kicking in and out but since the van is new to me I wasn't sure what what the noise was. Regardless of where the the air flow switch is set it always blows cold, much colder than the outside air. If I set the temp to hot it will blow hot. Had the freon recharged a couple of months ago but that is all that has been done. It has rear air. Any suggestions as to what to check?
Thanks,
Evan

I believe your unit is designed to run continuously. You may find a "vent" position that may turn off the compressor but most other positions will have it running. This was added to help control interior moisture build up that happens in many of the vans.

What position are you keeping the selector switch in?

Thanks for the replies.
I move it between the "max ac", "ac", "upper & lower vent", "upper vent", "lower vent" and it blows cold from each.

Default problem solved?

A buddy of mine has an owners manual for this series of van and it says the a/c still blows when the switch is set for upper and lower vents. Don't ask me why. It is not supposed to when the switch is set for just upper or just lower. Maybe it felt cold since there was still cold air in the vents.
Thanks again for the help.

In 98 Dodge update the climate control system when they did the major update to the van (dash and front end plus weight capacity gains). His controller has 3 round ***** that rotate.

Fan speed. Or is yours different? On the shop van at work which is a 99 it has 1) fan speed, 2) temperature, 3) airflow selector.

Ok, I remember something like that. I had a 2002 Ram 2500 that had the three *****. I don't remember having problems with the AC switch.
