Default Dodge van oil filler tube removal

On a '81 Dodge Ram van, what is the proper way to remove the extension tube that comes out of the valve cover on a 318 V-8 ? Thanks

On my van all I would need to do is remove one mounting clamp and pull the tube out of the valve cover, yours should be similar.

It's tuff to get out,I just replaced my oil fill grommet because it was leaking.I couldn't get the tube to come out of the valve cover grommet,I needed to replace valve cover gaskets too so I pulled the valve cover with the oil fill tube still connected, then seperated them after it was all out as one.Now my engine is leak free! Now to tackle my leaky steering box tonight.

I appreciate the replies. This tube has no brackets holding it on, and I don't want to remove the entire valve cover. Apparently the grommet around the tube is whats holding it. The tube is quite secure and doesn't move. But this oil filler tube has to come off of valve cover to do radiator or hose work??

No you can change the hose with out a problem. The radiator removal will be from the bottom. It does help to raise the van before removing the radiator.

OK & Thanks--MOBILE AUTO REPAIR. Now what about the plastic shroud that covers the upper area of fan blades. To remove this for possible water pump replacement, doesn't the oil filler tube have to come off?

Let me first say I was able to remove my radiator from the top(1989), and the grommet where my oil filler tube went into the valve cover was hard as a rock, and leaking badly, and I could not find a replacement and wound up fabricating something that works.

Try removing the Filler tube with the engine and grommet hot and flexible. Mine was easy to pop out when hot, but stubborn when cold.

No, the shroud is two pieces and once you separate the top half from the bottom you can get it past the oil tube. It's the A/C lines that are in the way and are a PITA.
