Default Fresh meat to the world of Dodge Vans.

Hey guys, nice forum you have here! I have a couple questions about customizations / upgrades for my vehicle. I used to be a small car (VW) kind of guy until circumstances outside of my control placed this beaut in my hands.
I recently received a 2000 Dodge 1500 Van with 81k+ miles.
After I give it a nice little tune up, I was looking to improve its aesthetics - like the muffler/exhaust, new tires and wheels also eventually a new paint job. The plastic trim steps are getting cracked due to sun wear, so I was thinking about removing the molding and replacing it with nerf bars.
Question is, Im having a hard time finding the information I need: bolt pattern and offset, etc. What kind of exhaust or muffler should I look into, is it the same for a Ram 1500 pick-up? Would nerf bars also be feasible to install if I were to remove the step/trim?
Well, thats it for my gauntlet of questions, thanks in advance. Suggestions are also welcome!

PTA,

Is this Ram Van a conversion or a plain cargo van?

While there are certainly a lot of dodge van enthusiasts here, this forum seem more oriented in diagnosing and repairing of them.

I think you will find this forum more helpful for your questions.
