I just purchased a 2001 Ram Van 3500 with a 5.9 L engine. Does it have a fuel filter?

 

Yes but it is part of the fuel pump module. The fuel pump module has the fuel pump motor, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, and gas gauge sending unit in one complete unit.

 

And it's not replaceable unless you replace the whole fuel pump assembly.

 

You need to drop the gas tank to get to it all so if there's no problem don't worry about it.

 

where is it located and how can I change it. I thiink it got clogged by old fuel sitting there for 5-7 yrs. I am concidering buying it but, won't if I can't get it started. I changed the fuel and got it to turn ove rwith quick start. But, it won't keep running. The owner said he had a new fuel pump put on just before he parked it. Or, the problem may be electrical. Where is the relay could it be messed up from sitting too long?

 

^The fuel pump module is in the fuel tank. You have to drop the tank to change out the module.
