Buying a 1989 b350 for my buisness im starting. need some general knowledge!!
Hey guys!
ive posted on here before, my user name is what i own currently for my band.
So the same church i bought my van from is selling another, but its an 89. i started it, drove it some, sounds great. one of the break calipers is in need of major repair. i checked the codes, only got 12 and 55 so im good there.
i was just wondering about some basic info or trouble spots. Like i said my band has a 93, and we tour in it. Ive done a lot of work on it myself.
So just wondering if the 89 had any wield issues. for one, is it carbed or tbi? i didnt pull the cover off....
also, my 93 has a OD on/off switch, but this 89 im looking at doesn't, does it have od? how could i tell?
thanks guys!

Posting a new unrelated question without informing us of or if your previous issue was resolved is rude.
An '89 is TBI. My '89 has an A-500 tranny. It is overdrive with lock up and has the OD off button on the dash.
Count the gear shifts, not sure which tranny you have.
My FSM says on an '89 b350 a three speed auto was standard with the 4 speed OD as an option.
I do not know what the 3 speed auto number is, perhaps a standard a-727, but could be the a-904 or the a-999. Someone here should know.

Well, i didnt get to take it on the highway today, but i will before i buy so i can count. Would an 89 have the od switch my 93 has or not?

Wow, no doubting you are a musician. It wasn't even a full month ago.
Code 37, engine dies when hot ect? Ringing any bells?

I've never seen the inside of a '93. The OD off switch on my '89 is left of the steering wheel about 10 inches and down a little bit.
You can read the VIN number to a parts department of a dodge dealer and they can tell you what transmission came in the Van.
But do it with this post open so you can remember what you were planning on asking

oh ya, my bad. Well for some reason, the code 37 disappeared....so...i dunno....but no problems since. just went to Montana and back fro Indiana.
My 93 has an OD switch like you described.
Ya, i think im going to go back to that church today and get the VIN and look it up. If i can, ill get it on the highway if its still plated and insured. it may be.
