does anyone know why my voltage regulator has 5 prongs instead of the standard 3prong conection and its black w/ a gold part on it? it used to be a wheel chair van. what can i do because the battery discharges everytime i use any accessries or the lights.

No I don't know why as to the 5 instead of 3 prongs.

See if you can find a 5 prong regulator or if not wire in a 3 prong regulator so your alternator will charge the battery.
