No compressor relay in 88. The wire for the compressor clutch comes right off the selector switch in the dash. Take the switch out of the dashboard and disconnect the single orange wire. If the compressor does not run with the orange wire disconnected then the switch is bad and must be replaced.

If it is on even with the heater/ac control switched off you may need to cut the hot wire (+) wire at the ac compressor and route it into the dash and put a switch in where you can turn it on and off as you wish to.

How I can make to be sure the original swich control work or not?
the orange wire is 12V/0Volt or an open/close concact?

the compressor is on also with all wire disconnected on the original swich control!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the wire on compressor is Black, right?)

thanks

The black wire goes to ground. The dark blue with a black stripe wire comes from the control switch in the dash. Here's the diagram I have for 1988.

how do take out my a/c compressor in my 1998 dodge status, as my bearings are making an awful noise when i start it. I am going to put a a/c bypass pulley on!

And up plug it plus disconnect the hoses going to it. On this car you may have to take it out from underneath the vehicle.
