Default Vehicle speed sensor.

I have a 1998 Ram Van 1500 with V6.
I have "ABS" and "BRAKE" lights lit and speedo doesn't work.
I get error "P0500 MOD $D1 1/1 Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction".
I assume this sensor is located on top of the differential.
I bought a replacement sensor at NAPA, and it looks like the connector is located at the top of the unit, aiming up.
I looked at mine, and the connector is at a right angle, under the shield.
Do I have the wrong replacement part?
Am I looking at the wrong sensor?
I hate to beat a dead horse, as I'm sure this was covered in these forums somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
Help!

Take a look at the back half of your tranny and see if there is a sensor there that matches the one in your hand.

Thanks Rich. I went looking at the trans. No dice.
Alldata showed the sensor on the rear axle, above the differential.
After much searching around, I found the proper replacement.

Autozone calls it a Duralast / Brake Sensor. Part# SU8172.

I bought mine at NAPA part# 530778.
They call it an "ABS Differential Speed Sensor".

I installed it and the "ABS and BRAKE" lights went out, as well as the "Check Engine" light.
The speedo works again.

I hope this helps.
