1999 Ram Van v6 - hesistating after warmup. No codes key reset returns normal op
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Van with V6. Whether Idling or running down the road. The engine will start to bog/pulsate rough. When I turn the key on/off real quick it idles real high and then everything returns back to normal operation. Some days it will not do it at all. Funny thing is that it does it about the same location from my home everytime. Also when it bogs and I press the gas I hear popping/backfiring in the air box. My friend has a 2002 ram truck with 8 cylinder and his is doing the exact same thing. So must be a mopar thing. Please help.
I cleaned the iac and put it back in. Tested in Park and idling. Was running fine and then when the engine starts to studder it, I noticed that the iac opens wide open and starts to suck alot of air. I click the key back and forth then it goes back to normal. The iac resets itself.
Do magnum engines use a heat riser valve on the exhaust manifolds?
No they don't. I could be off a year or two but I believe the heat riser was last used on carbureted engines. With the onset of TBI and MPFI the heat riser wasn't necessary.
Well it's no longer relevant to the OP, but my '89 TBI does have the heat riser, and I wish it did not, as the spring is broke, and it is leaking around the pivot pin.
Use that stuff around the pin, but move the pin occasionally to prevent the stuff from sticking to the pin. Once it's all cured, you'll end up with a much tighter fit around the pin.
