I think you're wasting your money.

IMO, just get the regular old every day intake/plenum gasket set and replace it. If you're anxious to spend extra money to make it a bit better then buy the gasket kit from the dealer instead of an auto parts store.

Wow, I'm surprised. I am worried about the aluminum + thin steel combo doing the same thing again.

I know you have mega experience as a mechanic....you don't think that's a concern?

Will I need any special tools to do this job?
Is there an easy way/tool to help remove all the old gasket material?

Really...how long did the original one last, 10+ years?
Don't you think the updated one will last even longer?

I'm guessing you'll be pulling it apart to do a valve job on the heads long before this plenum gasket gives out.

Nope, basic tools and a torque wrench.

You can spray gasket cleaner on them, let it soak in, then wipe most of the gasket right off. Other than that, I used a soft wire wheel in a drill and it cleaned it up super.
