Question WHooooosh is the noise I hear

My van 92 dodge ram b250 v6 3.9 auto started making this loud whooosh noise every time I accelrate ...what gives?

Let me add more, I can hear it out the drivers side window from under the van ,I don't see any holes in the pipe.

My first absolutely uneducated guess would be the fan clutch.

Wondering if you are hearing something from the transmission. Didn't you use to power brake this transmission and have the thrust bearing try to come out of the tranny or was that someone else? If so I don't remember if you had the transmission rebuilt or if you just had a new thrust bearing installed.

I would look for a crimped or restricted transmission fluid line. Also check the fluid level for it may be low.

If it is the fan clutch then after you have gotten up to speed and with in a minute or less it should kick out and not make the whoosh/roar sound. And you will hear it whether the window is open or not.

IDK what it was ..the Van had a loss of power like it wasn't running on all cylinders, but I took it out on the Hwy 2day and after about 2 minutes the noise just stopped and the power came back ...weird.

It was either a rodent stuck in the serpentine belt, or the sounds of all the jobs being outsourced to Asia and Mexico just as H Ross Perot said way back when.

Really, I'd check the Air cleaner, make sure it an it's cold air feed tube are mating nicely.
