Identifying a electrical part
Hello I have a 95 Ram 2500 full size conversion van with a 5.2l engine. I am changing the battery and notice a small wire connected from the positive cable to a small rectangluar box with two posts (possibly a circuit breaker) fastned on the firewall right above the battery. It has another wire connected to the other post which comes thru the firewall from the interior. It has no marking on it except one post says BATT and the other says AUX. Any help in identifying the the part or amperage is greatly appreciated.
That is a circuit breaker for some kind of add-on inside the truck. Trace down the wire and you'll find it.
A circuit breaker is a very good alternative to an inline fuse. As to where the fuse would blow and have to be replaced, the circuit breaker will trip and after it cools down the current will flow again and you don't have to replace anything.

Does the box look like any of these?

I found that it is a circuit breaker for my brake controller. The install instruction I found on-line says a 30 amp CB. My interior lights seem dimmer than I remember. I have a brand new battery. The controller is a Drawtite activator II.
Now to get my heater box and stuff back into the engine compartment. Anyone have any pdf files for reinstalling the entire box, etc?
I want to make sure I have all the pieces(screws, nuts, etc) before this weekend.

You can purchase a Chrysler Ram Van service manual from eBay or as a back up option get a Hayes repair manual for the Ram Van. The Hayes would be alright to get by, but will not be in depth enough for a full installation.
Alloro or one of the other members know the like on eBay to get the service manual. It usually runs from $10-20.
