Thanks for the replies. I have asked on craigs list for anyone nearby with a computer capable of setting the fuel sync by syncing the crankshaft and camshaft sensors to no avail. I had asked the local dodge dealer and they don't have a clue what I'm talking about. As far as the computer (SMEC) it is new as is every sensor on the engine.

I'll be seeing if someone wants to take over the problem rather than junking it. It runs too good and I must be close to a solution but for me the time, and money have outlived my patience.

Did you tell the dealer or the other folks that you need the sync timing done. I think 1993 was the first year that the timing light wasn't used to set the timing. They started using the DRB2 and the DRB3 to set the sync timing. Timing will read ( In Range) any were from 0 to 5 deg BTDC.

Okay, please don't beat me up, but this is a really simple suggestion that will cost no money or time to check. Try removing your gas cap. I'm thinking that you are creating a slow vacuum in the fuel tank as it warms up and that is making your pump work double (or triple) duty.

Just an idea. It's common for the gas cap to fail in small engines and lawnmowers...they get clogged and it'll run for 5 min and then lean out to failure.

We're not like that around here, all suggestions are welcome. Of course unless it's really, really, really stupid. Like telling someone to change their tires to fix a headlights not working issue. Then all bets are off!

Thanks for the suggestions. master tech, I'm glad you exist. I thought I was the only one who understood how to set the timing on this van. I will try the dealer again but they are too eager to hook me up for $69.00, probably reflash the smec for another $100 when if I could just get their attention and tell them that what I want to do is possible and necessary.

Hi all, new here, but just read the problem with the slow power curve I have a 98 1500 conversion and the same problem has started I,m sure its tranny seems to be stuck in 3rd. was noticing the trans was hanging up in the first gear, would wind up longer then I thought, probably was warning me something was haywire. jack up the rear end and see if trans goes through the gears don't know if that will work but what the heck.
