Six foot two sleeping long ways.
Alright. My friends are planning a canoe/camping trip in a few weeks. I've been thinking about purchasing a universal rubber cargo liner for the B250. I can carpet the entire van, and I mean the whole deal: floor from bumper to bumper, side panels and doors all around, even the ceiling panels for less than $200 with some nice heavy backed marine carpeting. Now I'm thinking of building a couple of 6'-6" benches in the back that can convert into a bed and be easily folded and or removed when I need to haul something more than ***.
I looked at four custom medium to firm foam upholstered cushions and @ $350+, I'm thinking I may toss in a futon mattress I've had laying around forever.
For the immediate future, I could set in say, six milk crates and a sheet of 3/4" ply and call it a bed. But in the long run I'm thinking a single bench big enough to hold the entire, uncut futon mattress along one side, and a smaller storage bench as an ottoman/footrest on the other. Possibly a swing up table surface from that opposite bench.
Does anyone have any pictures or plans other than the same 'ol RV style table in the middle with 3 or four cushions converting from table/benches to bed?

Who still wants to know how to get the plastic frames out of the rear doors around the inner door handles.

Longer beds along the wall behind the drivers seats are commonly referred to a Gaucho style beds. I'm only 5 10 so I made my bed in the back and sleep side to side, sometimes diagonally. Lots of storage underneath, and I can remove the platform and load sheets of plywood inside.

Try a couple searches with that term. Also look on Vannin dot com for interior builds.
I have vague memories of a screw only accessible behind the door handle to remove those plastic thingamabobs, but it's been a while, and my van is an '89.

Fantastic! VANtastic!
I'll do the Gaucho search right now.
And I'll check out the other suggestions.
At first I wanted the bed as low as possible. For privacy and all. Then I realized the insulation and storage factors enhanced by raising it a foot or more off the floor. Not to mention my futon mattress is 56" wide and the distance between the wheel wells is only 50"... just stuff it in, let it curl up on the sides and enjoy sleeping like a taco!
I'm almost ashamed to admit that I did not remove the door handle. That makes perfect since. I'll pull one off tonight and look for a screw.
