I drained the tank. Jacked up the rear. Took off the tank. replaced the pump. put the tank back on. put in gas. It wouldnt start. Bought more gas and then it started after a couple of cranks. I drove it around for about 10 mins and then parked it. A week later I went to start it and it would not fire!! Whats the problem? I really dont want to take the tank back off. I tried 10 times today and once it almost started.

 

You could have a bad new pump. Have you tested for fuel pressure?

The other possibility is that the old pump was good and you have another issue.

 

the van was running well before I changed the pump. I did it as preventive maintenance since the van has 250K+ miles on it. Like I said earlier the van ran right after the pump change. I took it for a couple of laps around the block and even tried some wide open throttle so unless the pump crapped out right after I parked it then it should still be good.
