I'm in and out of my van alot, it's a 2001 B2500. The step in the doorway takes a real beating. Any suggestions of what I can do?? The weather stripping won't stay, cause that's where I pivot my foot. I have worn all the paint off the edge of the entry, and now it's just rusty. What have all you experienced people done to slow this process down?? Thanks
It took me a few weeks to get used to it. But now I find it easier to get in and I've also found it to be less strenuous on the back, since I'm not twisting to get in.
We have the same year and B2500 size. yes, the weather stripping sure does get loose too often around the driver's doorway. I've tackled the problem once and it held for about a year.
Well, I tried my right leg. My weak old back and weak right leg make that a very interesting event. So, I think I'm going to have to keep looking for a solution. Maybe I could find some short running boards. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I lift myself up with my right foot then slide onto the seat. Your foot doesn't ride the edge that way, nor does it pivot.
doesnt that put extra wear on your seat base sliding in and out?
i put aluminum diamond tread plate in the bases of the dodge vans i have owned. but i have a bunch always laying around. my biggest problem was wear from sliding on the seat in my 01.

I've noticed this on a few Ram Van's after the 98 model year. Why are the seats not durable enough. Knowing how bad they can get, I actually lift myself off of the seat and set out and down. So far, my seat has not ripped open.
