Hi I need to replace my automatic transmission fluid in my B2500, 3.9l V6.

Clutch is slipping ie sometimes no drive in any gear except reverse....
I want to change the trans fluid before I try and find a mechanic here in the UK..

I have read many conflicting opinions on ATF+2, Dexron and ATF+4? Halfords (a UK main car spares firm) sells this.

Use ATF+4 only.

Don't use anything with Dexron/Mercon fluids. These fluids will cause TCC slippage/chatter problems plus wear out your transmission sooner than you would like for.

 

The slipping could also be due to the bands needing adjustment. Be sure to do that when doing the fluid/filter change.

 

Dexron/Mercon brands = dead Dodge tranny. No if, or buts.
