I forgot the position of the thermostat, is it with the spring towards the block?
I have a 2001 3500 RamVan with a 5.9 V8
I was on the road and the thermostat failed and had to take it off, since I was in too much of a hurry I also failed to write down its position, so now 2 weeks later with time in my hands wondering how it goes, is there a rule of thumb like spring always up or down?

I found out that as a rule of thumb the spring side always goes inside or facing the block.
