i will be using my 3500 van for towing my race car. I am expecting a towing weight of around 8000 pounds(trailer + race car + and stuff inside the van).

considering the weight i will be upgrading the van's pads to heavy duty HAWK pads. Can I also use DOT 4 fluid? Any known compatibility issues between caliper / ABS pump seals and DOT 4 fluid? is this an overkill?

I'm worried about traveling down hills since the van can't engine brake.

DOT 4 is compatible with both the brake system and any residual fluid left behind. Now DOT 5 is something I would think you'd have a problem with if you used it.
