OK, i reset the computer (batt off for half hour)

just took it down the road to get petrol, had to ride the accelerator and keep revs up at a stop. (puttig onto nuetral helped initially as pergazza suggestion) on the way back it stalled like a bitch (only a two minute trip) really hard to start back up. eventually , with foot to the floor i got her started and had to rev right up and throw into gear to get back home. lots of noise and unhappy neighbours!

im obviously no expert but im really hoping the new injectors and regulator will sort this next week.

mother f****r

If you have a muffler shop near you, they should be able to let you know if the cat is good or not. I cannot speak for where you are, but they will do it in my area for free.

Here is a link: Read down to the second and third one to get some ideas on a failed converter and the symptoms.

Take a long handled screw driver. Beat the CAT with the handle. If the thing rattles like marbles, your CAT has failed is is clogged. That's the easy test. The CAT can even be clogged without it rattling also.

hi, the cat sounds fine, very solid and doesent look that old. FYI england isnt as well organised or generous when it comes to mechanics.. especially yanks. theyre scared and greeddy and unless ou know someone personally youll generally get billed for any time spent on your car and they have no connection for part scourcing if its not a common uk import. if i took a part to a store for testing theyd just ask me for my reg anscicne this vehicle isnt "normal" to them they dont have it listed and shrug theyre shoulders. unless you take it to a usa specialisits and theres none nearby.

Anyway..

Yesterday i pulled the fuel rail, cleaned the injector manifold ports, replaced with new injectors, new plug wires, new fuel regulator. started her up and she sounded way better.

However the fuel rail was leaking on a couple of the injector-rail connections. i pulled the rail, checked it all.. bent the mounting brackets slightly to make a more uniform install on the problem side, put it all back together and now the other rail is leaking from all injector-rail seals. Is there a trick to ensuring the conection is good? i presumed tightening down the rail nuts would push down on everything thus sandwiching the injectors tightly between the rail and manifold but its not like that. just the little clips are responsible for the pressurised connection of the injector to the rail.. should i post this elsewhere?

is there an extra seal that should be in the rail holes?
thankyou for any suggestions.. as usual its greatly appreciated.

ok, so panic over! i re installed the fuel rail but this time didnt worry about pushing the injectors down into the manifold. i let the bolts do that, and hey pesto..no leaks.

unfortunately i still have my stalling problem.. *****.
starts fine-put it in drive, and within a minute it doesnt like to drop back to idle and cuts out.

next im gonna check compression and look into the vacuum system more in depth...i guess i could plug the vac lines for the A/C and cruise control then go from there.

Well this ain't looking good with what you have done so far you would expect to some happenings.

I had a strange situation this last week I was driving along getting low on gas, then all of a sudden I lost power, the engine still ran, I kept rolling as I was on the highway, and ended up going a little slower eventually being only to get 20 MPH then down to about 12MPH and I had my foot to the floor. had to inch to a gas station once I filled up was good to go again. The other thing I changed was I went from 85 grade to 85 grade gas, since then put in a bottle of STP fix it all.

I spent today looking through and cleaning electrical connections. There's been a missing relay by the starter relay science I've had it. In the manual it says it for the emmc? Or something ..can't remember - it helps with the trans slip apparently. Anyway I started up the van left it idling and tried an old relay I had . It imediatly smoked and blew a fusable link! In my face! left it off as before. Fixed the blown link, Got back in van and had a hard time starting as usual and noticed sparks spitting out the alternator. ( i know this had a crack in it and was seized some time before I bought the van) so now I've ordered a new 120amp alternator.

Helo all, me again with my boring problems..
wen i was looking through and cleaning all my electrical connections i found the speed sensor connector (on the transmission extension) was full of trans oil. ie the electrical plug socket was really wet with oil.

i cleaned it out but didnt think this sensor had anything to do with fuel/air control but reading my manual it apparently does.

maybe its shorting throught the oil and telling the pcm the car is still moving so the pcm is getting confused when the throttle position is closed and is messing up the air/fuel but not throwing a code? ill take the sensor out and inspect its o rings, see if that makes a difference. also the neutral saftey switch.

thought this new info may help others with mysterious stalling problems wetehr it fixes mine or not we shall see..
