Default heater hose and timing chain replacement interval?

Currently have an 02 1500 van 5.2 engine 82,000 miles. Run's great and I keep up the maintenance on it. Purchased the vehicle in 2007 with 45,000 mileage.

What is the recommended interval for changing timing chain? Also curious about heater hose replacement since it's a 10 year old vehicle? It does have the rear ac/heat on it.

If your oil has been changed regularly and the engine is in good nick you may not have to change the timing chain and gears for a long, long time. The chain begins to rattle and the engine idle gets rough when it's time, so you will know. There is a retrofit chain guide/tensioner that you may wish to install when you do the chain & gears job.

Heater hose materials are much better than they were in the 60's and 70's so unless it keeps you up at night I wouldn't worry too much. Most of us swap hoses out when performing a particular job - for example changing the water pump, radiator or heater core.
