Default How I Flush a Coolant System

How I Flushing A Coolant System
Research Oxalic Acid, and know what your're dealing with, It's also known as Wood Bleach.
Remember no one is responsible for Your safety except YOU.
Needs
1 5 Gallon Plastic Painters Bucket
2 Oxalic Acid
3 Box of Baking Soda
4 DI Water
5 Anti-Freeze

MAKE SURE ENGINE IS ICE COLD PRIOR TO STARTING THE FLUSHING

Make Sure You Capture All Used Liquids For Legal Disposal

1 Wear Eye Protection and Gloves

2 Remove any Block Coolant plugs, clean the threads with a tap, and install new Brass Plugs with Teflon Tape to seal.

3 Remove the thermostat, make sure the engine is totally cooled down to ice cold.

4 I use one of those Prestone flushing tees, flush it out with tap water really good with the block plugs removed to remove all the anti-freeze and
chunks of whatever has built up in the bottom of the block.

5 Add about a half cup of Oxalic Acid into a white painters bucket, ADD WARM water and thoroughly mix it until you don't see any crystals.

6 Making sure your engine is ice cold, and has no water, all plugs re-installed, and radiator drain closed. Pour the Oxalic Acid mixture it into the
radiator, fill the remainder with clean tap water, start the engine to burp as much air out as possible adding tap water to make sure its full, put a LEVER Type radiator cap back on, run it until it warms up maybe 15 mins., make sure your heater is turned on so the mix also passes through that part of your cooling system.

7 Now its time to remove the Oxalic Acid. With the engine OFF carefully lift the lever and remove the pressure through the cap, then remove it, flush with tap water slowly so you don’t pump ice cold water into a warm engine, do it slowly so the engine cools slowly. Once your sure the engine is back to ice cold, drain all the water, remove the block plugs, and open the radiator drain and flush again.

8 Again with the engine ice cold, and your're sure all the Oxalic Acid has been flushed, all plugs re-installed, and radiator drian closed. Mix a box
of baking soda in a white painters bucket ensuring its mixed with the water well, drain the radiator enough to allow the baking soda water mix and pour it, put the cap back on run it until its warmed up again, and repeat the cool down flush process, flush it really well until your sure all the baking soda is removed.

9 With the engine again ice cold. open all the drains and remove as much water as possible, re-install your thermostat, close everything up, and fill with 50%-50% De-Ionized Water, and antifreeze, I use Toyota Red myself in everything.
