Just got my first B series, couple questions
Hey all, I just bought a 1990 Ram B-250 extended with 240,000 kms (149,000 miles) on the 360, and it's got a couple issues.
First off, it's leaking power steering fluid. I'm not sure where from yet, but any pointers as to tracking down the leak?
Also, after the van warms up, the oil pressure light flickers a bit while idling, especially after shifting into drive or reverse. Then after a few seconds, the light stops flickering. The gauge, however, reads in the middle and doesn't really drop.. since this is the case, is there just something wonky going on with the warning light? Motor doesn't tick or knock as far as I've observed. Oil reads 'full' on dipstick.
Thanks guys

I have been using a dodge cummins for my towing and have spent plenty of time figuring out where the new leak is from.... lol
I usually break out the degreaser and completely soak the engine from every angle that I can get to and let it sit for 15 minutes or so then repeat and let sit again. after the second go round I pressure wash the snot out of everything under the hood starting at top and working my way down. While under it I use the time to completely wash the underside clear of road build up and and mud still hanging around, then clean under and around the vehicle.
Once it is clean, I let it sit over night to completely dry off, put jack stands under it to keep the drive tires off the ground, start it up and let my garage monkey sit in the seat and operate the steering wheel of trans or whatever I think is leaking, while I watch laying underneath it with a couple paper towels and a flashlight...
Sounds like a lot, but it is easier to find the leak on a very clean rig and then easier to repair not being covered in oil/grease/mud.
